First, Trade Assurance and the 48hrs warranty are two things. They don’t impact each other. You can open a dispute or apply for a refund when you need even if the 48hrs warranty period is over.
Second, if you have confirmed the order receipt, trade assurance can still be covered within 30 days. Below is the official rule from Alibaba for your reference:
Chapter 3 Acceptance
Article 17 Application for dispute resolution shall be made within the time limit prescribed by Alibaba.com, which cannot exceed 30 calendar days after the Date of Confirmed Receipt of the Products. If the order is closed by Alibaba.com, application shall be made within thirty days of receipt of the notice that the order has been closed. If there are special provisions, such provisions shall prevail.

I bought a used machine on Trade assurance. The seller had stated clearly on the product page warranty only for 48hours after receiving. Well, I had to get 220v installed at my business in order to use the machine, so It took me 10 days arrange electrician to install 220v. When I first tried the used machine I got from Alibaba, it was about 2/3 defective. Seller is saying 48hour warranty period is over. I explained that I had to install 220V and I found out about the defect withing 24 hours of me actually trying out the machine. But it was 10 days passed receiving it. Would trade assurance be still covered if it is still within the 30 day period?

Hello.. I want to buy and import heavy machinery to my country (Egypt), the machine i want (lime slaker/hydrator) is mostly available by Henan seller. One of them has trade assurance but i heard Henan sellers manybof them are scam. What do you think?.. It will cost around 50k usd. Please advise

By Air Freight: 30 days
By Sea Freight/Land transportation/Post Parcel: 60 days

Hi i was wondering if you could kind of give me some ease around my current situation. I have received a product 2 weeks ago, because of corona it took more than 60 days to arrive. The product looked good but I recently got a return for a client since the product melts. I tested them and they seem to all melt/not work. Now i mentioned it to the supplier and they don’t say anything anymore. My trade assurance has passed, so i opened an offline dispute. Im terrified because it was a big investment and i cant find any information of experiences about this.
I used your blogpost to collect as much evidence on this matter as possible. Still unsure if it will help. Do you have any experience when it comes to this?
